Blueberries Help Prevent High Blood Pressure
January 19, 2011
A new Harvard University study1 followed 134,000 women and 47,000 men for 14 years to monitor blood pressure. It turned out to be 35,000 people. Of all dietary components, blueberries had the highest correlation to normal blood pressure.
The researchers specifically identified the anthocyanins, which are the biologically active compounds in blueberries, as offering the protection. Even one serving per week made a big difference. Of course, concentrations of blueberry anthocyanins are available as dietary supplements, which makes it even easier for you to get this important nutrient all year round.
